Serving Richmond for More Than Two Centuries
Branch’s Baptist Church has been serving the Richmond community and sharing the love of Jesus Christ for more than two centuries.
Our fellowship was originally established in 1814 as a mission activity of an earlier Chesterfield Baptist Church, not affiliated with the present-day Chesterfield Baptist Church. The ministry continued to grow and serve the local community over the next 14 years before being constituted as a separate house of worship on May 10, 1828.
Though often referred to as “Branch’s Meeting House,” the assembly worshipped as “The Baptist Church of Christ at Hephzibah” until the name was officially changed to the current designation on July 8, 1838.
In June 1912, church leaders decided to build a brick house of worship due to the poor condition of the old wooden building. The new sanctuary was furnished with the help of neighboring churches in 1914. The current sanctuary was built in 1948, with various wings added over the years.

At its core, Branch’s is a mission-driven church. The mission emphasis continues to this day with members praying fervently and generously donating time and funds to support ministries with local, state, and worldwide impacts.
